Dogwoods in Bloom (Aug 04 – July 07) Mild Steel

Large petals are forged ½” square bar, bundled together and lapped onto a ¼” round stem. Smaller flower has petals forged of 3/8” sq. Each flower has a chiseled centre bulb, with one, alas, noticeably more detailed than the others. The 1/2” flowers are approx 14” tall, while the 3/8” stands only 9” high.

I conceived of this design while at Lower Fort Garry, NHS, and it represented my first successful incorporation of technique, artistry and forge-welding into a single project.
