Hey a fellow Manitoban! I didn't even realize when I added you. That is pretty cool. Well now that i realize this I have to ask. Gas or coal? I love useing coal but have a hard time finding it, so I opted for gas.

Hey fellow 'toban!

To answer your question: I use both. Mostly coal, because forge-welding isn't possible with gas. That said, it's nice for anything else, provided you can keep the scaling to a minimum.

Strangely, coal is easier to come by for me, as I'm yet to purchase a gas forge. Thing is: it's expensive. Like, 80$ a bag, which is not cool. Thankfully, I'm usually getting paid to demonstrate, and that's when I make most of my stuff - on someone else's dime.

What are your sources for coal? Like where specifically do you get it. Well I wouldn't say its not possible to forge weld with gas, (I have done it) Its deffinetly harder than coal saying that though. It deffinetly scales more. Yah 80 bucks a bag is steep, though worth it though i would think. I only really plan to use it for forge welding. well i hope we can keep in touch, Maybe even a visit to eachothers shop sometime. Happy forging!
